​Bargarh, a prominent district in the western part of Odisha, India, has a well-defined administrative structure designed to ensure effective governance and public service delivery. ​A Brief History of Bargarh’s Formation

​Bargarh district was carved out from the erstwhile Sambalpur district on April 1, 1993. This reorganization aimed to streamline administration and promote development in this part of the state. Prior to this, Bargarh and Padampur were the two sub-divisions of Sambalpur district. The creation of a separate district has enabled a more focused approach to local issues and development projects.

​Subdivisions and Blocks

​The district is primarily divided into two subdivisions: Bargarh and Padampur. Each subdivision is headed by a Sub-Collector who oversees the general administration, law and order, and implementation of developmental programs within their jurisdiction.

​Bargarh Subdivision

​The Bargarh subdivision is the larger of the two and comprises several blocks. The administrative blocks under this subdivision are:

​Padampur Subdivision
