Well, that Full Moon in Scorpio was a bit manic, wasn’t it?

I said to a girlfriend it felt like the heightened energy of the Full Moon started about Wednesday the 29th and didn’t settle until after Monday the 4th, once Mars had passed the peak of its square to Jupiter.

That rolled into Tuesday’s Mercury/Pluto square, which itself kind of lingers until the end of the week, as the Moon will meet Pluto in Aquarius on Friday May 8.

And the undertone to it all of course is that we still have Mars with Saturn in Aries, which adds intensity and urgency.

Mars, Profections, Timelords and Trends

Mars isn’t my timelord this year, but it is in my profected place, and Mars activations are especially loud for me right now.

Combine that with the fact that Saturn is my timelord, which means Mars and Saturn still co-present is definitely hitting me with decisions and changes I did not have on my bingo card for this year. Maybe it’s the same for some of you too?

Extra Mars or Saturn?

You might be especially sensitive to all the Mars, Saturn themes – exacerbated by that sign-based square with Jupiter in Cancer – if any of the following applies to you:

  • Mars or Saturn is your timelord this year (this means your profected sign of the year is Aries, Scorpio, Capricorn or Aquarius)
  • Mars or Saturn is in your profected sign of the year. For instance, maybe you are in a Gemini profection year, and Mercury is your timelord BUT you have Mars or Saturn in Gemini.

If so, then you too are in the Mars/Saturn training camp.

For an extra burst of astro intensity and extreme experiences, if the second point above applies AND that same planet (either Mars or Saturn) from its sign in your Solar Return chart aspects its natal sign, well that’s just more on top of more. Could be more Saturn if Saturn is in your profected sign or more Mars if Mars is in your sign of the year (that’s me).

If these techniques sound interesting but unfamiliar to you, I’m teaching all about going further with profections in my live course starting May 12. There are limited spots left so if you’d like to join us, run, don’t walk here.

I’m honouring Mars in new ways this year – I finally started lifting weights and moving my body more often and at higher intensity. I’m doing all I can to give Mars an outlet.

Week Ahead Astrology Highlights May 10 – 17: Soothing Pause, Relief and Renewal

When the astro energy gets hot like this, I keep an eye out for aspects and periods of sweet relief. I am happy to report there are some of those on the horizon. Which I plan to make the most of before Mercury and the Sun join Uranus in Gemini (May 17 and 20 respectively), and bring even more busy, buzzy influences.

In the week ahead, here’s some lovely astrology to work with:

  • The Moon in Pisces, from approx. 3pm May 10 – 7.30pm May 12 eastern time. Here the Moon is off axis to Mars and Saturn in Aries, in a trine aspect with its ruler Jupiter exalted in Cancer and square to Venus in Gemini, plus sextile Mercury and the Sun in Taurus.
  • Sun sextile Jupiter, May 10 or 11 depending on your location. Two of what Ficino calls the three graces forming a harmonious aspect, with support from the Moon. Lots of reception, friendship and generosity, as the Moon is in Jupiter’s sign, the Sun is in the sign where the Moon is exalted, Jupiter is in the Moon’s sign.
  • Mercury sextile Jupiter, May 13. This is helpful for pointing your mind towards possibilities, finding support for meaningful or previously hidden plans. The catch? The Moon is in Aries with Saturn on the same day so there’s some tension between what’s possible in the future vs what must be addressed immediately.
  • Reset: Mercury meets the Sun on May 14 and then the New Moon in Taurus on May 16. Both offer a chance to recalibrate, shed the old, slough off fear, worry and both emotional and energetic baggage from the past. Don’t get stuck doing what you’ve always done or sticking with things because you once thought you should. Shift your thinking, feel your way into different options and find a new path forward.

This second week of May is less dramatic and busy than other parts of the month, so I do hope you get a chance to breathe, be in nature, and move at a slower, more sustainable pace.

Of all the influences listed above, the Moon in Pisces with the Sun sextile Jupiter aspect stands out so do plan something restorative and enjoyable for May 10 – 12 if you can.
