Minister of State for Home Assures Action Against Vulgarity in Reality Show ‘Engaged 2’
Women insulted for TRPs? Elvish Yadav’s show sparks outrage
Mumbai : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has taken an aggressive stand against the vulgarity and degradation of women depicted in the reality show ‘Engaged 2’ (Roka Ya Dhoka), streaming on the ‘Jio Hotstar’ OTT platform. The Samiti has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Minister of State for Home Affairs, demanding an immediate ban on the show and the filing of criminal cases against those involved.
‘एंगेज्ड २: रोका या धोखा’ या शोमधील अश्लील टास्क, महिलांचे वस्तूकरण आणि सार्वजनिक अपमानास हिंदु जनजागृती समितीचा तीव्र विरोध. मुख्यमंत्री व गृहराज्यमंत्र्यांना निवेदन देत तात्काळ बंदी व संबंधितांवर गुन्हे दाखल करण्याची मागणी; कारवाईचे आश्वासन.

Priyanka Lone, Coordinator of the Ranragini wing of HJS, said, “At a time when atrocities against women are rising, the obscene presentation of women in such shows is shameful and encourages further crimes. If the organizers cannot uphold the dignity of women, they have no right to insult them.”

Taking serious note of the demand, Minister of State for Home, Shri Yogesh Kadam, assured that instructions would be issued to the Director General of Police (DGP) to take action, and the Cultural Department would also be notified. Whereas MLAs Chitra Wagh (BJP) and Dr. Manisha Kayande (Shiv Sena) have also promised to follow up on this matter. They intend to raise the issue in the Legislative Council to seek a permanent ban on such obscene content. The Samiti has further demanded the formation of a ‘Cultural Monitoring Committee’ to regulate digital media.
Key Highlights of the Grievance
Objectification: The Samiti pointed out that tasks like ‘Lap Dance’, ‘Mud Task’, and ‘Ice Cube Task’ objectify women.
Violations: Tasks involving removing a woman’s clothing using only the mouth (without hands) and bathing women in public are blatant violations of decency and law.
Impact: Such “licentiousness” under the guise of freedom of expression is negatively impacting the youth.
