February 23 – April 2, 2026
Mars enters Aquarius on February 23rd and stays through April 2nd, bringing nearly six weeks of intensified, electric energy. The most charged period of this entire transit falls between now and March 14th, when Mars is conjunct both Rahu and Mercury simultaneously in Aquarius. Then, from roughly March 8th through March 26th, Mars also becomes combust — moving too close to the Sun and having its fire blown out or amplified unpredictably. That is a lot happening in one sign over a short window of time, and it is worth understanding what each layer means so you can navigate it wisely.
Mars Conjunct Rahu: The Wild Current (Now through March 14th)
I’ve written before about Mars conjunct Rahu as a “walk on the wild side.” Rahu, the planet of ambition and desire, is an enemy of Mars — and when they travel together, the energy becomes electric and often restless. Rahu’s air element can stir up inner fear even while pushing outward bravado. The Aquarius backdrop makes this particularly interesting: Aquarius is co-ruled by Saturn and Rahu, a sign already wired for revolutionary thinking, technological invention, and — at its shadow side — karmic bitterness and tension. When Mars plunges into these waters and joins Rahu here, the current runs strong and fast.
On the positive side, this combination can be remarkable fuel for breakthrough action. Some of the most courageous figures in history — Gandhi, Lincoln — carried Mars/Rahu energy in their charts. In Aquarius, this could translate into inspired humanitarian impulses, technological creativity, and the courage to fight for causes that matter. If there is a project you’ve been sitting on, a cause you believe in, or a stagnant situation that needs a jolt, this transit can provide exactly the push you need.
The challenge is the impulsiveness and the temper. Rahu exaggerates whatever it touches, and Mars already runs hot. The combination in these weeks can make it very easy to lash out, drive recklessly, over-push at the gym, or make rash decisions — particularly in relationships or around money. I’ve seen this pattern in practice: people acting first and thinking later, then regretting it. Be especially careful behind the wheel; you will notice more aggressive drivers and impulsive behaviors on the road. Blood pressure can run higher if you push yourself too hard without adequate rest.
Mars Conjunct Mercury: Enemies in the Same Room (Now through ~March 14th)
Mars and Mercury are bitter enemies, and having them travel together in Aquarius adds another layer. Mars thrives when it is physically moving and focused. Mercury wants to think, analyze, and communicate. When they are forced to share the same space, Mars gets tangled in his own head — thinking too much, ruminating on what someone said, and not paying attention to the task at hand. This is how accidents happen. Stay present and focused during this period, particularly when driving or doing anything that requires your full physical attention. Be patient with technology snags and communication mix-ups, and think twice before hitting send on that heated message.
Mars Combustion: The Overpowered Fire (March 8th–March 26th)
Mars is less vulnerable to combustion than other planets — fire does not extinguish fire — but when it moves too close to the Sun in this period, it can increase volatility and “blow out” Mars with too much firepower. You may feel frustrated, like your drive and momentum are being compressed or overshadowed. This is not the time to force major initiatives through sheer will. Channel the energy into exercise and physical practice instead.
How This Affects Your Rising Sign
- Aries Rising: Mars transits your 11th house — watch for anger flare-ups in group settings or with friends. Avoid impulsive financial decisions.
- Taurus Rising: Mars moves through your 10th house of career — ambition runs high but so does the risk of conflict with authority. Stay measured at work.
- Gemini Rising: This falls in your 9th house — watch for rash opinions on philosophy or religion; avoid arguments with teachers or mentors.
- Cancer Rising: Mars in your 8th house calls for extra caution around health and finances. Avoid unnecessary risks and be careful physically.
- Leo Rising: Your 7th house is activated — relationship tensions can ignite quickly. Walk away from arguments that don’t need to be fought right now.
- Virgo Rising: Mars fires up your 6th house — health and workplace conflicts need attention. Don’t take on more than you can handle without burning out.
- Libra Rising: Mars energizes your 5th house — creative energy is strong but impulsiveness around children or investments needs watching.
- Scorpio Rising: Your 4th house is activated — home environments may feel tense. Avoid rash decisions about real estate.
- Sagittarius Rising: Mars moves through your 3rd house — strong drive, but avoid aggressive communication with siblings or neighbors.
- Capricorn Rising: Your 2nd house is highlighted — be careful with money and speech. Avoid impulsive spending.
- Aquarius Rising: Mars transits your 1st house — this is your body and identity. Channel the energy into disciplined exercise rather than reckless action.
- Pisces Rising: Mars activates your 12th house — rest matters more than ever. Watch for hidden anger and get adequate sleep.
Remedies for this Period
Slow down intentionally. The adrenals will be firing during Mars/Rahu weeks, and if you run at full speed you will exhaust yourself. The Warrior Pose in yoga is excellent for channeling and grounding Mars energy constructively. Keep up your meditation practice — this is not the time to skip it. Calm pitta (the fire element) with less spicy food, more coconut water, and cooling foods. If arguments get overheated, find a way to step outside and walk before re-engaging. Physical exercise is genuinely one of the best remedies here: give Mars a healthy outlet so it isn’t looking for one on its own.
Most importantly, remember that this transit — all its layers — carries real creative and courageous potential. Gandhi and Lincoln didn’t shy away from their Mars/Rahu energy. They channeled it for something larger than themselves. You can do the same. Do the work, stay disciplined, and these weeks can move mountains.
