The astrology of the Summer in the Northern Hemisphere brings an array of alignments that sets the stage for not only for the rest of 2026, but also the rest of this decade.
It’s safe to say that nothing is as it was back in 2019 and as a result, the world has forever changed. It’s said that the more things change, the more they stay the same. On this timeline though, things do not appear to be staying the same and whether you are cognizant of it or not, you’re likely feeling it.
We all have our own predispositions to change and that in of itself can be determined by the type of change involved. What is fun and exciting to one person can feel daunting to another. That said, change in inevitable and it’s on the horizon, so having an understanding of what’s to come can help you prepare physically, emotionally and spiritually.
One of the ways in which these changes have shown up is that since 2023, the rare procession of the outer planets; Pluto, Neptune and Uranus have shifted from water and earth signs (receptive, passive, yin) to air and fire signs (dynamic, active, yang).
These outer planets will influence us individually, as per our natal charts, but also collectively due to their lengthy time in a sign; Pluto in Aquarius – 20 years, Neptune in Aries – 14 years and Uranus in Gemini – 7 years. Thus, the position of these outer planets will be in play through until the 2030’s and well into the 2040’s.
Not only is it almost unheard of to have these planets shift into new signs in relatively short succession, it’s that they’ve moved from passive to active energies all but simultaneously that will make the next 20 years so much more swift, chaotic and turbulent than the last.
Due to their individual cycles and speeds and their current placement in the early degrees of Aquarius, Aries and Gemini, the three outer planets will form harmonious links to each other, known as trines and sextiles in the Northern Summer of 2026. The arrival of Jupiter in Leo on June 30, for a year-long stay will maximize the potential of what the outer planetary configurations suggest.
These formations create what has been dubbed “The Barbault Basket” after the late French astrologer, Andre Barbault. Known for predicting the collapse of the Soviet Union and the 2020 pandemic, all eyes are now on the Barbault Basket, that peaks in July. Unlike the previous cycles of collapse and calamity, Barbault predicted that the harmonious configurations in the elements of air and fire will push humanity into a new collective awakening. He foresaw the seeds of a new world that were planted in 2000 begin to sprout as a constructive turning point for the planet, seeing humanity move away from rigid structures where a profound cultural, societal and technological innovations take form.
At face value, these outer planetary movements feel like the dawning of the much awaited Age of Aquarius. Whether it is or it isn’t, that is a conversation for another time. That said, it appears that much of what Barbault foresaw is and has been in motion for several years.
The movement of these outer planets and the shifting sands of time cannot be stopped. However, like any type of sweeping collective movements, algorithmic manipulation, political, economical, idealogical and religious/spiritual influences, it is important to maintain discernment and think critically about what is going on. While all changes present opportunities as well as challenges, it is important to consider who stands to benefit from the next thing you’re expected to jump on board with. Not every solution sold as being best for humanity is necessarily good for the individual. Not every technological advancement is good for the planet. Not every theoretical idea is good in practice.
July 4 2026, the celebration of Independence Day for the United States also happens to be the first conjunction (fusion) of Mars and Uranus since Uranus moved into Gemini in April 2026. Historically, Uranus in Gemini has been a war signature in the astrology of the USA. The pairing of Mars and Uranus is volatile, explosive and violent and falls in the 7th House of the USA open enemies. This conjunction will set off a chain reaction between Jupiter in Leo, Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius between 1 – 4 degrees of these signs.
The ethos of “as above, so below” is what astrology is built upon. It’s likely that the events of the 4th of July will create a ricochet effect that will set the scene for the rest of the Summer as well as the 2020’s and beyond and not just in the USA, but globally. As this happens, Mercury will retrograde through Cancer, stationing direct close to the USA natal Sun placement on July 23. There may be some confusion around national identity and security then.
August 12 delivers a total solar eclipse at 20 degrees Leo. While the eclipse path doesn’t fall across the United States, it will likely have implications for leadership, identity and sovereignty both domestically and internationally. With so much change happening under the backdrop of the eclipse, many of the events the Barbault Basket suggests may be brought into full view in August. This New Moon Eclipse is associated with new beginnings and attached to the South Node denotes a cleansing, purification and a point of spiritualization. There is a sense that as one door closes, another opens, though it may not occur in that order.
The combined influence of a solar eclipse, Jupiter and the South Node in Leo may serve as a timely reminder that despite the noise and distractions at a larger scale, at the individual level we are each invited to return to our own sense of meaning and purpose.
On the other end of the sky, the North Node shares space with Pluto in Aquarius. This could bring the great awakening for humanity that has been promised for so long. It may also bring the hastening and implementation of an idealistic utopia that may be a paradise for some, but a prison for others.
Astrology’s Great Benefic, Jupiter, will arrive in Leo (ruled by the Sun) on June 30 for a year long stay. Holding your place in the center, strengthening your sense of faith, meaning and purpose, creativity and individualistic self-expression may be the most important thing you can do to retain what it actually means to be a human being and radiate your own light into the world around you.
Aries
It would be easy for you to get carried away in the things you think you should do over the next few months. Sure, you have your responsibilities and goals and they aren’t something you should ignore. That said, there is also something you can’t buy back once its spent – time! Don’t think that something is so important that you miss the opportunity to create happy memories that will not only last the Summer, but a lifetime. Fun, joy, pleasure, creativity, a bit of romance and quality time with loved ones needs to be your top priority.
Taurus
This Summer has the potential to really move your life in the direction that you want. There is a caveat though – you need to stretch yourself! This isn’t the season to return to a former version of yourself, you have to keep growing and expanding and take a well-calculated risk or two. Balancing the moving parts will require continual adjusting, which by now, you should be better at than what you once were. The more you can connect to why you’re doing what you’re doing, it will be easier to endure the how.
Gemini
The more you can work on your mindset and focus on faith, optimism and opportunity, then guess what? The more of that you’ll get! However, if you over rely on facts and data, then you may not see the forest for the trees. A big part of developing the right mindset is to be very clear about whom you’re keeping company with. If you don’t share similar values and aspirations about life, then chances are, they aren’t your people. It’s a fine line between discernment and being judgmental but that’s what it will require to make authentic choices.
Cancer
It may seem a bit of a disappointment to see Jupiter exit your sign, not to return for over a decade. That said, you’ve flourished in ways you may not fully realize yet. Potent Mars will arrive in your sign on August 12, the same day as an eclipse! This truly is your time to bet on yourself and make your dreams and goals come true. The time for sidestepping your desires is over. Keep the dream alive. Work hard for what you want, even when you have your doubts or you don’t feel like it.
Leo
Who do you want to be? How do you want to be seen? How do you want to be known? These are the types of questions worth exploring as expansive Jupiter arrives in your sign from June 30 for a year long stay. When you can answer these questions honestly and move in the pursuit of happiness, you’ll attain a sense of indescribable joy. You may need to move within different social circles, wrangle with God and take the path less travelled, but you’ll gain a new understanding of what it means to be truly sovereign.
Virgo
For the most part, you get to avoid a lot of the drama that the Summer space weather provides. That doesn’t mean real growth, progress and a shift of sorts isn’t taking place. You see, the most growth is going to happen where you’re least likely to look – internally. So if you’re feeling angsty or dissatisfied with the big picture of your life at the moment, then look within. Examine the habits, patterns and beliefs that you tend to not question and therein you’ll find your answers. Self reflection will crack the code in terms of the growth and change you actually want.
Libra
Your life can really take on a whole new meaning over the upcoming months, especially when it comes to relationships of all kinds. Single, partnered or somewhere in between it doesn’t matter – you just have to say yes to opportunities that come your way. Before you do, it would be wise to figure out what you want or at the least, what you don’t. This isn’t the season for indecision so perspectives count! Quality over quantity matters. Take stock of your friendships, especially around August 12 when a Solar Eclipse sets the upcoming changes in motion.
Scorpio
If you’ve been doing what it takes to reach your career goals or your overall life direction plans, the next few months can bring some brilliant breakthroughs. As generous Jupiter crowns the top of your solar chart, the rewards and recognition you hoped would arrive are likely. That said, they may not come in the form you expect, but they are likely to get you on the path you need. The month of August overall will really shake things up. Your plans on the home front and regarding your finances can take a turn in the right direction too!
Sagittarius
New horizons can open up for you as Jupiter arrives in Leo on June 30. The next year is about you truly exploring what’s possible. In order to fully embrace new perspectives and opportunities that are on offer, it will help to let go of some old ideas or beliefs about how you think life should be and see it for what it could be. If recent changes on the relationship front have left you looking for answers, it may be a case of asking different questions. In the process, treat having fun and enjoying yourself like a full time responsibility!
Capricorn
If you can really anchor yourself and focus on the dream you hold dear in regard to your domestic life – actual or imagined, the next few months will be easier for you. Changes in respect to your work and finances are likely which can help you realize your dreams or make necessary adjustments in getting back on track with day-to-day tasks. If there is something you really want, then eliminate distractions and maintain keeping focus. Getting back to basics with clean living, healthy lifestyle habits and a balance of work and play is the way to go.
Aquarius
Relationships – including professional and personal may undergo a process of change during the Summer season, peaking in August under a brilliant Solar Eclipse. As you continue to focus on what’s most important to you, you may become increasingly aware of the fact that people enter your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Your personal life and your mind set around it is in for a great awakening! Single, spoken for or “it’s complicated,” be sure to enjoy yourself and take a chance on fun, happiness and love. Variety is the spice of life!
Pisces
Jupiter shifts signs on June 30, residing in your Daily Grind Zone for the next twelve months. That may sound like a bust, and it kind of is. A brilliant Solar Eclipse in August 12 is asking you to reprioritize what you think you have to do. More attention to health and wellness will balance things out. It may be a case of having to pick up the pace work wise in order to achieve a financial dream or goal. If a different kind of life for your family is what you really want, then do what you must!
