On 3 March 2026, there will be a total lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be visible from across northwest South America, North America, the Pacific Ocean, Australia, Asia, Japan, southeast Asia, China, India, and most of Russia. The map below shows the eclipse’s visibility:
Before we will discuss any possible effects on the individual, we should have a look at the mundane astrological implications of this eclipse. To be able to do this, we have to establish where the eclipse is likely to have its greatest effect. For this purpose we need to find out which countries or cities fall under the rulership of Virgo, the sign wherein the eclipsed Moon resides. We also have to take into consideration that the eclipse’s visibility will greatly enhance its effect.
Looking through traditional source material, we find that Greece with emphasis on Athens, Switzerland with emphasis on Basil, Bratislava, Brindisi, Germany with Worms, Erfurt and places along the Rhine, France, especially Paris, Jerusalem, and Italy with emphasis on Milan are the locations that could be affected by this solar eclipse.
The map below shows the angularity:

The eclipse Moon is located in the first Decan of Virgo, ruled by Mercury who has sign rulership.
William Lilly writes in his Annus Tenebrous, that a lunar eclipse in the first Decan of Virgo: “ … declares sickness unto Kings, manifold discords and dissentions universally raging amongst men.”
He continues to write about Mercury as eclipse ruler, that: “… he is the author of quick and violent motion … he produces inordinate high winds, sudden tempests quickly changing, thunders, lightnings, opening of the earth, and Earth-quakes”.
Lilly also mentions that, via Mercury’s trine to Jupiter, there is the possibility of heresies and schisms in religion, and most importantly, detriment in the revenues of Kings and the Nobles and Gentry of the Kingdom, great controversy in the customs, laws, and privileges of the people.
On a personal level, an eclipse usually affects only a small number of people. To establish the possibility of any effect to take place, the birth chart should be scrutinised for any of the following:
The eclipse Moon is conjunct or opposite any of your natal planets.
The eclipse Moon (13* Virgo) is conjunct your natal Midheaven.
The eclipse Moon (13* Virgo) is conjunct or opposite your natal Ascendant.
In other words, if your Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, Sun, Moon, or other planets, were at around 13* Virgo at your birth, it is likely that this eclipse will have an effect on you!
The current Solar Return chart should be inspected in this respect, too!
Should it be the case that one or even more of these factors apply, an in-depth reading of the birth chart may be necessary to find out if, how, and to what extent you could be affected.
