Amidst the current global turmoil, my mind keeps coming back to international organizations like the United Nations.
I then stumbled across this BBC article, where the UN Chief warns the organization is at risk of imminent financial collapse.
And once I found the birth chart for the UN via astro.com I realized I could dive into some of the astrology behind the UN and its current situation.
Neptune in Libra
Part of my initial curiosity about the UN was that I had a vague memory that it was created in the aftermath of WW2. Why does an astrologer keep that in mind?
I was pretty sure the UN chart had Neptune in Libra in it, and with such focus on Saturn and Neptune moving into Aries, I’ve had in the back of my mind, what might these transits mean for organizations and entities that came into being with the opposite, that is with Neptune in Libra?
Neptune was in Libra from Oct 1942 – Aug 1957.
The UN chart has 20 Aries rising, and Venus conjunct Neptune at 7 Libra, in the whole sign seventh house.
Second House of Money, Cash Flow and Income: Sign and Ruling Planet
With an Aries ascendant, in the UN chart, Taurus is the second house of money, cash flow and income, and Venus is the ruler or managing planet of second house topics.
The UN chart has many notable aspects and placements and going into all of them is outside the scope of today’s post – but you are welcome to post your observations in the comments below or even go deeper with your own research too.
While I went into this chart wanting to explore the topics of money and funding – which we will do – I also realized these transits through Aries will eventually activate the UN ascendant, at 20 Aries.
Saturn Transits to the Ascendant
The exact transit of Saturn conjunct the Aries Ascendant for the UN won’t happen until April/May 2027, but the pressure on its identity, and its need to define itself and its purpose or place in the world, is already building, now that Saturn is in Aries and its whole sign first house.
Neptune’s transit to the UN ascendant will arrive from 2033 – 2034, towards the later part of Neptune in Aries.
If we came back to the headlines around the UN and financial collapse, transits or timing linked to the second house and its ruler will be what to focus on.
Transits and the Second House in the UN Chart
What catches my attention is the upcoming transit from Saturn to Venus (ruler of the second house), by opposition, which will be exact in April and December 2026. Notably, Saturn will station direct at 7 Aries in December, in opposition to Venus.
It makes sense then that the organization is experiencing pressure and limitations regarding cash flow and finances, and that there may be consequences with long term implications for money and budget matters.
As an expression of astrology, the article indicates that the reason for the imminent financial collapse is due to unpaid fees from member organizations, as well as budget rules about how to handle its funds.
Part of what makes this fascinating is that Venus, as ruler of the second house, is placed in the seventh house of partnerships.
So, funding and income or money themes are always linked to partnerships and contributions, and when they are limited or blocked – as is common during a Saturn transit that hits either the second house or its ruler – the organization’s entire financial foundation becomes shaky and uncertain.
(Especially given that natal Venus is tightly conjunct Neptune and perhaps somewhat hopeful rather than practical in it is typical expression.)
Now it’s not likely the organization will come entirely undone – though of course anything is possible. What seems necessary is that a major overhaul of its funding and budget guidelines is needed for it to continue and to stabilize its financial position.
Saturn in Aries Plus Neptune in Aries
Which makes complete sense with Saturn beginning to oppose the ruler of the second house.
And Neptune isn’t too far behind – it’ll be April and May of 2028 that Neptune in Aries will oppose it’s natal position, in Libra and oppose natal Venus.
Since Saturn transits Aries every 30 years, this isn’t a new transit – for the UN chart or for each of us personally.
However, what’s different and additional this time around, is that Neptune is in the mix, adding a foggy, unclear quality as well as highlighting your most hopeful aspirations and dreams.
This might mean that whatever new rules or structures are built in 2026, thanks to the transit of Saturn, may be further reworked or changed through 2028, as Neptune rolls through.
In terms of more lasting patterns and stable partnerships re its money, it may not be until after both the Saturn and Neptune transits to natal Venus have completed, that is, heading into 2029.
The UN Chart and Profections: 80 and 81
In terms of one other timing tool for the UN Chart, on its most recent ‘birthday’ in October 2025, it turned 80, which is a ninth house profection.
In the UN chart, the ninth house is ruled by Sagittarius and holds the Lot of Fortune. This helps activate Jupiter as its current annual timelord, perhaps offering a protective or helpful quality, both from Jupiter and from Fortune, from October 2025 – October 2026.
In 2026, the organization will turn 81 and shift into a tenth house profection, which holds the depleting South Node and is ruled by Saturn, which is natally in the fourth house with Mars.
(Side note – when using houses relative to Fortune, in the UN chart the natal tenth house is second from Fortune and will also speak to typical second house topics.)
Expect financial pressures and uncertainty around money and funding to intensify after its next birthday, and especially around that final Saturn opposite Venus transit in December.
What are your thoughts on the UN chart? Are you having any transits from Saturn in Aries or Neptune in Aries too?
