Blue eryngo, Eryngium planum, is the most common garden plant in the genus Erygnium. The eryngiums are a group of some 250 species native from southern Europe to Mexico and South America. They are also called sea holly. Eryngium planum, blue eryngo, sea hollySea holly is a sensible common name for Eryngium maritimum, which is a plant of coastal sand dunes in Europe. It has big spine-tipped leaves that look like holly leaves. It grows–or grew, it is rare to endangered in the wild today–along the edge of the beach, so “sea holly.” It is prickly and looks like a thistle…
Five zodiac signs have great horoscopes on February 26, 2026. Pluto and Saturn have entered a conversation that challenges how you view work and earn money. Pluto emphasizes changes that benefit the people. Saturn in Aries gives you the strength to start over, even if it’s on a small budget. Together, their energy is powerful. Saturn helps you make change practical and controlled, while Pluto encourages you to get uncomfortable and embrace it. Thursday is exceptionally great for these five astrological signs, as they often get stuck in a mental rut, believing life has to be a certain way.1. Taurus Design: YourTangoTaurus,…
I’ve been loving cabbage this season. It is so easy to throw together, and is so refreshing. Plus, it feels good to know you are giving yourself something so purifying, even as it nourishes. This simple recipe is made with a whole cabbage which, once tossed with salt and lime juice, shrinks way down. It serves 4, but it really, it’s hard not to eat it all yourself. Crunchy Lime CabbageInspired by the Teton Village Clubhouse and remembered by @myglobalpantry Ingredients1 green cabbage1 lime2 tablespoons sesame oil1/4 cup sesame seeds1/4 cup roasted salted peanuts, choppedPink salt, to tasteOption: Chives or…
The EPA has announced its final* ruling on the CO2 Endangerment Finding. *not even close to final. Notably, they have completely abandoned any reliance on the DOE’s CWG report. The EPA is not relying on new findings by the Administrator with respect to global climate change concerns under CAA section 202(a)(1) as a basis for the rescission or repeals and is not finalizing the alternative basis set out in section IV.B of the preamble to the proposed rule. … With respect to commenters’ precautionary arguments, the EPA is not finalizing the proposed alternative basis for rescission and repeal based on…
I’m talking here about the domestic form of Columba livia, the so-called Rock pigeon or Rock dove. And, while I’ve mostly paid attention to deformed pigeons here in the UK, it certainly isn’t a UK-only thing, as continental European and North and South American people (and no doubt those of elsewhere in the world too) will confirm. The Kew bird in the photos here was able to fly around and feed itself, and it might be broadly described as ‘healthy’. However, note that it’s in pretty poor condition. The feathers on its head and neck looked terrible and its rectrices (the…

How can Spirituality be explained scientifically? Most of the people around the world know about Spirituality on a surface level. Despite originating in India, only a few countable Indians can explain it in depth. But why is it so?Why don’t every Indian know spirituality very well? It is just because of misguided, adulterated or incomplete information from such people who don’t know themselves about spirituality in-depth.Common people around the world are just like small children in the field of spirituality. They know better about their God, but they hardly know about spirituality. A perfect lesson of spirituality can only be obtained…
After spending the past 20 years working at Winterbourne, I am saying goodbye this February to take on a new challenge as a Head Gardener elsewhere. Winterbourne has been such a significant part of my life, it’s been a hugely difficult decision – but it’s time for me to get my teeth into another garden landscape and apply everything I have learned here at Winterbourne to a different environment. Since I first announced that I would be leaving Winterbourne, lots of people have been asking me the same questions: what are you most proud of, and what has been your favourite…
Martin Johnson Heade ‘Blue Morpho Butterfly’ c1864 {{PD}} Look at the way that, of the major planets and lights, this alignment of Sun and Moon, such that the Moon appears to blot out the Sun, occurs when both are latest bodies by degree, at 28 Aquarius 49. Eclipses are resets, wipe-outs, complete changes in tone, shifts in the stream, abrupt and definite disruptions to the flow of time, the manifestation of place, the utilization and direction of energy; when this happens at latest degree we see the event as the end result of the current scenario laid out by the…
In Ayurveda, the morning is considered a Kapha-dominant time — naturally cool, heavy, slow, and steady. While this brings stability, it can also lead to sluggishness, brain fog, and a lack of motivation if Kapha is excessive. A morning shower helps counter those qualities by stimulating circulation, waking up the senses, and energising both body and mind. It is especially helpful for people who wake up feeling dull, heavy, or slow to start.Benefits of Morning ShowersBoosts circulation and warms muscles.Awakens senses and clears morning heaviness.Stimulates Agni (digestive fire) for a better appetite.Improves focus, alertness, and mental clarity.Reduces grogginess associated with…
After more than seven years of healing and treatment under the care of Davao Crocodile Park & Zoo (DCPZ), four rescued black palm cockatoos (Probosciger aterrimus) have now fully recovered. The birds were rescued during a major operation in 2018, led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).“When they first arrived, their cheek patches were pale gray, a clear sign of stress and poor health,” said Ana Kate Cuena, DCPZ Operations Supervisor. “Now, their patches glow bright red, showing that they are healthy and thriving.”Black palm cockatoos are native to Australia,…
Last week I gave you the second of a series of bird pelvises to try your hand at identifying: This one proved a bit more difficult than the previous example I offered up, which was from a Chicken – here’s that one for comparison: Chicken pelvis As you can see, our mystery pelvis is a good bit smaller than that of the Chicken, and in terms of the shape, while it has some similarities, but it’s more compact and almost square. I’m not 100% sure why, but that makes me think of something that has a more upright body orientation…

Hinduism, often referred to as Sanatana Dharma (the eternal way of life), is less about strict dogma and more about a continuous journey toward self-realization and union with the divine. Being a spiritual person in the context of Hinduism is an active process of self-discipline, ethical living, and seeking deeper truth. It is about integrating the sacred into the ordinary aspects of daily life. 1. Understanding the Core Principles The foundation of Hindu spirituality rests on a few key concepts that guide one’s actions and outlook: Dharma (Righteous Conduct): This is the moral and ethical framework. A spiritual person lives according to their dharma, performing their duties…
Completing the Old Logger’s Path on a sun-drenched autumn dayOur long trek did not go according to plan. Not even close. What began as a nearly 300-mile PAW Mega Loop transformed into a 200 + mile PAWventure. In the Pennsylvania Wilds, we explored the Susquehannock Trail, the Quehanna Trail, the Black Forest Trail, the Chuck Keiper Trail, the Allegheny Front Trail and countless even lesser traveled connecting trails. Near the end of our journey, we ventured into the Ridge and Valley Region on the Mid State Trail and the Old Logger’s Path. We finished in the Endless Mountains on the…
2026 kicks off a new era on Planet Earth, which “officially” begins February 21, 2026, when Neptune (non-physical reality) meets Saturn (physical reality) at zero degrees Aries. The last time Neptune and Saturn met at 0° Aries was approximately 9000 years ago, when the agriculture era and human settlements began. The ultimate beginning of the 360 degree zodiac is 0° Aries. And that is now! Zero degrees Aries is when we are born and when we are reborn. Aries is about birthing the Self. The new era opens the door for a new beginning in every arena of life on…
Panchakarma is often described as the cornerstone of Ayurvedic detoxification, yet many people misunderstand what truly determines its success. While the main cleansing procedures receive the most attention, experienced practitioners agree that outcomes depend far more on preparation than on the therapies themselves. Understanding this principle is essential for anyone considering ayurvedic panchakarma treatment, whether at a wellness center or a specialized clinic. This blog explores why preparation is critical, how it influences results and what it means for those seeking authentic healing. Panchakarma: More Than a Detox Procedure Panchakarma is not a single treatment but a comprehensive therapeutic process…
A quick lick from your dog may feel harmless — even affectionate. But can a dog lick actually cause sepsis? It’s a question that has gained attention after rare but serious medical cases made headlines. While the vast majority of dog licks are completely safe, certain bacteria found in canine saliva can pose a risk under specific conditions. If bacteria enter the bloodstream through an open wound, surgical incision, or weakened immune system, infection can develop — and in extreme cases, progress to sepsis.Sepsis is a life-threatening response to infection that requires urgent medical treatment. The key isn’t panic — it’s awareness. Knowing…
Male Anolis proboscis. Photo by Sam Schenker. Ecuador is one of the most biodiversity-rich and unique locations in the world – especially for herps. Currently, there are 207 species of lizards there, 41 of which are some of the most spectacular anole species around (Arteaga 2025). As a herp wildlife photographer and an employee of the Khamai Foundation, I have had many chances to encounter and document some of these incredible animals. In this post I will offer some photos, stories, and natural history information about the anole species I witnessed on a ~10 day trip to Ecuador in 2022.…

Shankarlal Lalwani M.P. and cause of Pakistani Hindu Sharnarthis Introduction: The Oath in Sindhi The hallowed halls of the Lok Sabha have witnessed countless oaths, but on a historic day, the words resonated with a profound cultural echo. Shri Shankarlal Lalwani, taking his oath as a Member of Parliament in the melodic cadence of Sindhi, did more than fulfill a constitutional formality. He sent a clarion call of solidarity to a scattered community. For the thousands of Pakistani Hindu sharnarthis (asylum seekers) living in the shadows of uncertainty across India, that moment was a beacon. It announced the arrival of…

The Celebration of Yogas In a horoscope, no single yoga can independently deliver strong results. When one yoga combines with another, that is when a true celebration of yogas begins. Many people wonder, “My planets are exalted, yet I don’t see great results. Why?”The answer is simple — combination yogas (joint yogas) produce the most powerful results. Example: Actor Sivaji Ganesan His ascendant (Lagna) was Aquarius (Kumbha). In his horoscope, Jupiter (Guru) and Moon (Chandra) are placed together in Aries (Mesha), forming a powerful Guru–Chandra Yoga. For Aquarius Lagna, Venus (Shukra) and Mercury (Budha) are positioned in the 10th house (Libra), and…

Co-author Irina Rotenko Eight years ago, we began following an adult female lynx in the central-southern part of Naliboki Forest, in the localities of Jamna, Budy, and Barki, covering an area of about 40–60 square kilometers. We named her Aurelja. A Belgian volunteer once snow-tracked her with a kitten for several days. The volunteer’s name was Aurelja, and she asked us to name this mother lynx after her. We agreed. Since then, we have taken thousands of photos and videos of Aurelja in many behavioral situations: nursing kittens, mating, caring for small kittens in her lair, playing, crossing rivers, and…

He is the cherished hero of the Tamil people India is made up of a wide spectrum of peoples going back to the ancient period, with roughly 4,400 tribes having populated the subcontinent. Though most eventually became part of the Vedic Aryas, whose metropolitan networks wove a common thread amidst their unique teachings and practices, many did so through their own sacred lens, retaining the diversity of the land’s different cultures. Of these cultures, some of the more enduring and significant have been those of Tamil Nadu, which borders the Indian Ocean as the country’s southernmost state. Here, amidst the…

Supreme Court Decision Vs Donald Trump’s Tertiary Chart As we look at the latest in political maneuvers, the Supreme Court ruled against the Tariffs imposed by President Trump. Being a Gemini, they are always prepared for negative and positive outcomes.. This Tertiary Moon Chart shows the Trump could not lose the election, his popularity was at an all time high. If you are struggling with chronic scalp issues, consulting the best Ayurvedic doctor in vijayawada can help you identify the root cause of your hair fall or irritation. Type III bursts are usually described as a two-step process: energetic electrons excite Langmuir waves, which are then converted into radio emission near the plasma frequency (Ginzburg & Zhelezniakov 1958). The recent discovery of Fundamental-Harmonic pairs by Parker Solar Probe (PSP) shows that many fundamental type III bursts are weak and composed of short, rapidly varying elements whose intensity rises quickly and then decays more slowly at a fixed frequency (Jebaraj et al. 2023), and PSP observes thousands of such bursts during every close encounter (Pulupa et al. 2025). This raises a conundrum: why are so many of these bursts…
Those of us living with cats share our homes with an ancestral predator, one adapted for hunting and the frequent, exclusive consumption of meat. These instincts become fully activated outside the domestic environment, where cats pose a global threat to wildlife. Pets are family. We celebrate their arrival with the same joy as a grand homecoming, and their absence leaves a grief as deep as losing a loved one. In bonding with cats and dogs, we often attribute human abilities and emotions to them. But beyond this affection, domestic animals still carry the instincts and genetic legacy of their wild…

Being a minority, Hindus in neighbouring countries or globally are always attacked, being an easy target, but worse, they are also under attack within India, where they are a majority by arab colonised slaves and others. They can go in their 100s of millions to the Kumbh mela or other Hindu festivals, but suddenly vanish when it comes to protecting Hinduism, which then encourages more attacks on Hinduism and Hindus. The root problem that invites all these attacks, which even the self-appointed intellectual kashstriyas seem to never mention, is pointed out truthfully in this tweet. Why in a Hindu majority…

The UK ruling classes, political and Royal, have been holed below the waterline, in a moment that must be history changing with the King’s brother and the Labour Party/present government’s high mandarin both hauled in by the police. The left can’t call foul on the monarchy since they are equally in the frame. Reading through Mandelson’s eye-curling wiki entry, the astonishment is he was ever let loose with not only dodgy financial associations leading to forced resignations but also connections to the ill-fated Millenium Dome and worse as a cheerleader for the Horizon IT system that caused so much…
Joint pain has quietly become a household normal from young professionals with stiff necks to elders struggling to climb stairs. A quick painkiller often feels like the easiest escape, but masking pain is not the same as healing the joint. Over time, this pop-a-pill habit weakens digestion, affects gut health, and still leaves the root cause untouched. Ayurveda focuses on lubricating the joints, reducing inflammation naturally, improving circulation, and rebuilding strength, offering a safe, long-term, and side-effect-free path to pain-free movement. Ayurveda Pain Management is a natural remedy for eliminating joint pain, back pain, knee pain, neck pain, and muscle stiffness by…
New powers will enable police to require people to leave a public area for up to 24 hours. In an amendment to the Summary Offences Act, the ‘move-on’ orders can be applied to anyone over the age of 14 who is exhibiting disorderly or threatening behaviour, obstructing a business entryway, rough sleeping, or begging. Those who breach the order risk a fine of up to $2000 or a three month jail term. The SMC asked experts to comment. Dr. Emmy Rākete, Professional Teaching Fellow, School of Social Sciences, University of Auckland, comments: “The Salvation Army reports that in Auckland, there has been a…

Remains of the hybrid white oak (the ‘three worlds oak’) in Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne”What happened to the oak book?” is a question I’ve been asked a few times while spruking The Sceptical Botanist. Fair enough too. I become rather obsessed with oaks during the COVID-19 pandemic, threatening to turn that obsession into a book.Well, that book is now in production with a London-based publisher, Reaktion Books. Copy editing is complete and I’m waiting for the first page proofs. As part of their Botanical series, Reaktion Books have already published one book on oaks – Oak by Peter Young. You may have read…
The Year of the Fire Horse starts with an explosive energy. The New Moon in Aquarius heralds the beginning of Chinese New Year, which gives the underlying influence of this cycle. We are moving from the Year of the Wood Snake, which has been filled with the energies of soul evolution, wisdom, healing and profound transformation. This deep yin energy is moving into an extremely accelerated yang energy, and all the wisdom you have accumulated will be put to active use.The past year has been about shedding your skins, dying to old versions of you, and releasing pain, trauma and…

Over the past year, US residents have been subjected to the abuses of an increasingly lawless authoritarian state. Our constitutional rights are violated on a daily basis.1 How did we get here? The denigration of respect and concern for our fellow humans has been instrumental. Whether we want to consider moral philosophy, everyday expressions of empathy and compassion, or religious edicts such as “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Luke 6:31), the actions of Homeland Security (ICE), the State Department, CDC, DOGE, etc. have exemplified the callous disregard for human life. This has been quite ironic, since…

To start from the end, the thing that worried me the most was the battery. How reliable it may be and how much will it last at low(ish) winter temperatures? The scope is powered by an RB-S rechargeable battery that, in…
This blog offers insights into the importance of instructional design over AI-generated eLearning along with elaborating how instructional design and AI-generated eLearning work. Keep Reading! Understanding Instructional Designing Instructional Design or Instructional Systems Design refers to the process of designing and developing learning experiences and programs for engaging learners. The approach involves determining the needs and preferences of the learners and developing instructional content that offers lasting impact. An Instructional Designer is the ‘architect’ or the ‘director’ of the learning process and applies learning theories in designing course content, incorporating interactive learning activities to support the acquisition and retention of…
Vasant Panchami Vasant Panchami, also widely known as Basant Panchami, is a vibrant Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring and celebrates the blossoming of knowledge, creativity, and cultural expression. Observed on the fifth day (Panchami) of the bright fortnight of the Hindu month of Magha, the festival typically falls in late January or early February. It signifies a seasonal transition when nature awakens from winter’s stillness, symbolizing renewal, growth, and optimism. At the heart of Vasant Panchami lies the worship of Saraswati, the revered goddess of wisdom, learning, music, and the arts. Devotees seek…
The aster family has a lot to offer. It’s really no surprise considering that Asteraceae is the largest family of flowering plants in the world with as many as 33,000 species. Certainly its ecological importance is substantial. It also contains, arguably, some of the most beautiful and attractive plant species, as well as a significant selection of useful plants from a human perspective. When a plant family is this big, it is essential to subdivide it into smaller groups in order to better understand it. The subject of this post finds itself in a tribe within the aster family called…
Reference : Ras Tantra Saar and Siddha prayog Sangreha Classical Indication : Grehani Introduction Grahani is a chronic digestive disorder described in Ayurveda, primarily arising from Mandagni (weak digestive fire). When digestion becomes impaired, improperly processed food leads to the formation of Ama (metabolic toxins), which accumulates in the intestines and disturbs nutrient absorption. Patients commonly experience irregular bowel movements, alternating diarrhea and constipation, mucus in stool, abdominal pain, heaviness after meals, loss of appetite, fatigue, and weight fluctuations. Persistent Grahani weakens dhatu nourishment and overall vitality. Swacchanda Bhairava Rasa is a classical herbo-mineral formulation indicated in Grahani and chronic…

Severe Viper Envenomation: A Case Report From PortugalAbstractSnakebite envenomation is uncommon in Portugal but may lead to significant morbidity when systemic toxicity develops. We report a case of a 57-year-old woman who presented with hypotension, progressive limb edema, and venom-induced coagulopathy following a viper bite. The progression of edema, together with systemic toxicity, prompted early antivenom administration and transfer to an intermediate care unit, with a second dose required in response to persistent edema. Supportive management included fluid resuscitation, limb elevation, and empirical antibiotic therapy for persistent fever. The patient showed progressive clinical and laboratory improvement, ultimately achieving full recovery.…

Who is a VTuber? A VTuber is someone who creates content using an anime-style model or avatar to represent themselves virtually rather than showing their real selves. VTubers interact with their audience and create content using the models as their virtual self on social media platforms and video-sharing sites such as YouTube and Twitch. The avatar’s style, appearance, voice, mannerisms, quirks, and idiosyncrasies are all designed into the overall personality of the avatar to reflect the avatar as one’s own self. It is a creative process of modelling a character based on real life development. VTubers usually have their own…

The first African violet I got was an unnamed variety that was called “light blue”. The plant was small and appeared to be light starved when I got it, and at the time I had never grown one. It was in a self watering pot with a wick, which made it easy for a beginner to grow. African violet light blueThe flowers are double and large, on average they are roughly 5 to 6 cm across. They are somewhat ruffled (I don’t know the correct term for this). The colour is said to be light blue, which they kind of are. I…

Mercury’s next retrograde will take place from February 26 – March 20, during which Mercury will reverse backwards from 22 – 8 Pisces. Given that Mercury is technically both in detriment and in fall in Pisces, this looks to be a very messy Mercury retrograde indeed. Cue distractions and trashy rabbit holes that capture your scattered focus for a while. You may have to work hard to stay on track as emotions, memories and longings from the past keep pulling your attention off task. Mercury station aka the Holding Pattern Expect logistics, plans and schedules to be constantly in flux,…
Posted on January 27, 2026 Fauna Robotics has unveiled its new soft robot named Sprout. The 3.5 foot tall bipedal robot features a rectangular head. It was inspired the helpful, friendly robots we grew up watching in movies and cartoons. Rob Cochran, Co-founder & CEO, Fauna Robotics, says in the announcement, “The real promise of robotics is helping people where they actually lead their lives: homes, schools, offices, and all the spaces in between. The robots we grew up watching weren’t industrial tools. C3PO, Rosie Jetson, WALL-E – these were all helpers, sidekicks, and companions. They were curious, reliable, and…
A recent paper led by Dr Arik Kershenbaum, a College Associate Professor here in Zoology, describes how both wildlife and humans could benefit from networks of acoustic detectors to monitor tiger activity in Nepal. Here Dr Kershenbaum writes about his group’s research, and how a faux tiger skin came in handy. Endangered Bengal tiger populations are increasing across India and Nepal – a conservation success story, but one that also creates tragic problems for local communities. The Tharu people of southern Nepal live a traditional lifestyle, gathering subsistence supplies from the forest on a daily basis, and are strongly…
Selecting the right aicc lms is no longer just about compatibility—it is about ensuring regulatory compliance, seamless integration, scalability, and measurable performance outcomes. In highly regulated industries such as aviation, healthcare, finance, and manufacturing, training systems must meet strict standards while supporting modern digital learning strategies. A modern LMS must go beyond basic tracking to deliver automation, analytics, mobile access, and interoperability that aligns with today’s workforce expectations. So, what exactly should organisations evaluate before investing in an AICC-compliant platform in 2026? Why Is AICC Compliance Still Relevant in Today’s Digital Learning Ecosystem? Although newer standards like SCORM and xAPI…
The Liberated Soul in Chamunda’s Grasp: Understanding the Smiling Severed Head The Enigmatic Imagery In the fierce iconography of Goddess Chamunda, one of the most striking features is the severed head she holds by its hair in her left lower hand. Unlike typical depictions of violence and death, this decapitated head displays an expression of serenity, contentment, or even happiness. This peculiar detail is not accidental but carries profound spiritual significance rooted in Hindu philosophy and the concept of liberation. The Symbolism of Liberation Through Death The smiling face of the severed head represents the ultimate freedom—moksha or mukti—liberation from…

For many, February carries a quiet heaviness. Energy feels lower. Digestion slows. Even habits that usually feel supportive can suddenly feel off. In Ayurveda, this isn’t surprising. Late winter is a transitional season, and digestion often reflects that shift before anything else does. Rather than pushing the body with restriction or intensity, Ayurveda approaches this time of year by supporting digestion gently, through warmth, rhythm and simple practices that calm the nervous system alongside the gut. One of the most supportive recommendations for this season is Rose Golden Milk, a nourishing tonic that helps digestion feel steadier while softening stress…
Dear friends, Welcome to Eclipse Season, the Year of the Fire Horse, and the start of a new Saturn-Neptune cycle that runs for 35 years. The New Moon in Aquarius ushers in these events on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 7:00 AM Eastern US time. The chart — which you can scroll down to view! — is a remarkably tight, highly focused “bundle” pattern, with nearly all of the planets crowded in between the degrees of 4 Aquarius and 24 Aries, and tucked into the Twelfth, First, and Second Houses of the chart when cast for Washington, DC. Many of the…
Catching COVID-19 during pregnancy significantly raises the risk of the blood-pressure disorder preeclampsia — but getting vaccinated protects against this serious pregnancy complication, new research finds.Studies have consistently shown that COVID-19 can worsen pregnancy outcomes. The new findings suggest that, during the pandemic, the coronavirus infection raised the risk of preeclampsia by 45% among pregnant women who caught it, compared to those who did not. Unvaccinated women who caught COVID-19 saw their risk rise by 78%.Vaccination, meanwhile, lowered the risk of preeclampsia. In people who completed both an initial COVID-19 vaccine regimen and got an updated booster shot, the risk…
In November 2025, I got the chance to work closely together with Jon Kongsrud and Arne Hassel at the Invertebrate Laboratory of the Universitetsmuseet i Bergen on a sample set of pycnogonids collected by the MAREANO Programme (https://www.mareano.no). Norway’s museum collections hold immense information of the past and present biodiversity state, which are the basis for any faunistic research on the future development of the Arctic Ocean. As the oceans continue to warm, boreal and warm-water species are expanding their distribution range northwards – also called ‘borealisation’ or ‘Arctic Atlantification’. This phenomenon is known on Arctic shelves, but how will…
Technical Training With AI For Enterprise L&D Technical training is about turning theoretical knowledge into confident, safety-critical decision-making. It enables people to apply what they learn on the production line, inside complex financial systems, or within live technology environments. The most effective technical training programs go beyond slides. They rely on continuous development to build real capability. In large, globally distributed organizations managing complex products, processes, and compliance environments, this kind of technical skills training is operationally critical. Today, AI tools are transforming how these technical training programs are created. This shift is not about replacing instructional designers or automating…
We seem to be living through yet another major moment for podcasting. Over the past two decades, the medium has gone from niche experiment to mainstream habit, becoming a regular part of how we learn, entertain ourselves, and pass the time. The popularity of podcasts—in an age of ubiquitous screens and perpetual distractions—speaks to something deep within us. Oral storytelling, as old as human speech, never really disappears. The medium evolves, platforms shift, distribution changes—but the basic appeal remains constant. But the differences between this golden age of podcasting and the golden age of radio are still significant. Where the…
For American gardeners, a visit to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew—known simply as Kew Gardens—is both a pilgrimage and a revelation. Located along the River Thames in southwest London, Kew is one of the world’s most important botanical gardens, blending scientific research, imperial plant history, and breathtaking horticultural display across more than 300 acres. It is not merely a garden, but a living encyclopedia of plants. Founded in the 18th century and significantly expanded under the influence of Sir Joseph Banks, Kew became the hub of Britain’s global plant-collecting enterprise. For American readers, it helps to think of Kew as…

Email WhatsApp LinkedIn Twitter Messenger Facebook Feb. 26 – March 20, 2026 Mercury Goes Retrograde Feb. 26th at 28 Degrees Aquarius Everyone dreads Mercury retrograde, and it gets far more bad press than it deserves. Let me say it plainly: this transit is not bad for everyone. But this particular retrograde has a unique and complex sky picture worth understanding carefully — because Mercury is not traveling through Aquarius alone. First, the basics. If you were born with Mercury retrograde in your natal chart, you are naturally more intuitive than analytical, more pattern-oriented than linear. Watch whether this period actually…
AJP saw this minivet while having a 6-hour walk in the New Territories of Hong Kong last month ‘from Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve up to Leadmine Pass, up to Grassy Hill, then along and up to Needle Hill and down down down to Shing Mun Reservoir’.On a clear day in Hong Kong minivets are a stunning sight. This one is a male Grey-chinned or Grey-throated Minivet, Pericrocotus solaris. The female is yellow. The scientific name is remarkable since it has not been changed since its description by Edward Blyth in 1846. It is now regarded as a locally common…
Strategies for employees. Frameworks for managers. Templates for HR. There’s no shortage of productivity hacks designed to help employees make time for training. Block your calendar.Schedule learning for Fridays.Protect development hours.Set personal goals.Reduce meeting time.Use microlearning. These tactics aren’t without merit. They create short-term breathing room. They satisfy the immediate pressure to “do something.” And tick a few L&D boxes when the pressure for accountability is real. But long-term? They don’t solve the problem. They just manage the optics. The problem isn’t effort. Employees aren’t resisting learning. They’re overloaded. When learning depends on spare time, it’s already designed to fail.…

Attractive colour and sweet scent are the most common strategies flowers use to advertise their nectar. When pollinators arrive, they sip the sugary reward, and as they move on, guided by the colour and scent of the next flower, they carry pollens with them. However, in a study published in Plant Biology, Albuquerque and colleagues reveal that some pollinator bats in Brazil do not sniff to find their flowers; they call into the night and follow the echo straight to their dinner.“We documented the first case of a bat-pollinated cactus whose flowers lack perceptible floral scent,” write Albuquerque et al…

Using the world’s largest radio telescope array, The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, astronomers have dived deeper into the turbulent and complex tendrils of gas and dust at the heart of our galaxy than ever before. The image of the Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) represents the first time that the cold gas of this 650-light-year-wide region has been fully explored in great detail. This research is also noteworthy because it is the largest image The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) has ever captured. It should help scientists investigate how stars live and die in the extreme environment around the Milky Way’s central…

On February 22nd, 2026, Venus (at 15° Pisces) is trine Jupiter (at 15° Cancer). Venus and Jupiter are the 2 ‘benefics’ in astrology – planets considered to be the most beneficial and supportive, associated with growth, harmony, opportunties, protection, and goodwill. Both Venus and Jupiter are in their exaltation signs – exaltation signs are where their qualities can express themselves at their very best, with less friction and more natural confidence. Venus and Jupiter are connected by a trine – which is considered the most beneficial aspect in astrology. The Moon (now in Taurus) is also sextiling both, creating a…

Gallo, O., Ursitti, J. and Ciucci, P. (2025). Winter use of kill and scavenging sites by wolves in human-modified landscapes. Journal of Zoology, vol. 326, pp. 65-76. https://doi.org/10.1111/jzo.70001 By locating feeding sites (i.e., sites where wolves kill their prey or scavenge a prey carcass) through GPS telemetry we documented feeding behaviour of wolves living in a historical stronghold in central Italy, where they have always coexisted with humans. Specifically, we explored wolves’ spatiotemporal use of both kill and scavenging sites in the Abruzzo Lazio and Molise National Park, by fitting GPS collars to 8 wolves (pack members, breeding pairs, and solitary…
If you’re like me, then professional sports have always helped define the decades. The accomplishments of athletes like Mickey Mantle, Wayne Gretzky, Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Simone Biles provide a sort of soundtrack that flavors their respective time periods. For example, it’s difficult to think about the 1990s without remembering the feats of Michael Jordan. I can still recall laying sick on the sofa and watching Jordan dominate the Utah Jazz while also covered in sweat from the flu. Although we don’t know athletes like Jordan personally, they are important to us, serving as markers for many of our…

King’s gold (Tropidocarpum californicum) is not named for a mythical treasure. Its origins lie in King’s County, where most of the plant’s populations were originally found, and the gold color of its flowers. But it may be as rare as gold. This annual herb is endemic to (only found in) California and limited to a small area…
As daylight shortens and routines slow down, many people experience a dip in mood and motivation. The run-up to Christmas is marketed as joyful, but for a large number of households it brings family strain and a surprising amount of loneliness. Against this backdrop, it’s no wonder the idea of welcoming a dog into the home feels appealing. One of the most consistent findings in human–animal studies is that dogs often act as emotional stabilisers. In my 2025 study, pet owners described a sense of companionship that feels different from human relationships. They talked about dogs as warm presences that…
Some caterpillars speak ant by rocking to a beat. By jiggling like a cellphone receiving a call while on vibrate, the caterpillars cozy up to ants, reaping benefits for them both. The findings, published February 25 in the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, suggest that the ability to keep a beat might be more widespread in the animal kingdom than researchers thought. Many caterpillars in the gossamer-winged butterfly family are “myrmecophilous,” or ant-loving. These larvae have evolved close relationships with ants, including pavement ants, in the genus Tetramorium, and those in the genus Myrmica. The degree and type…
Artificial intelligences opt for nuclear weapons surprisingly oftenGalerie Bilderwelt/Getty Images Advanced AI models appear willing to deploy nuclear weapons without the same reservations humans have when put into simulated geopolitical crises. Kenneth Payne at King’s College London set three leading large language models – GPT-5.2, Claude Sonnet 4 and Gemini 3 Flash – against each other in simulated war games. The scenarios involved intense international standoffs, including border disputes, competition for scarce resources and existential threats to regime survival. The AIs were given an escalation ladder, allowing them to choose actions ranging from diplomatic protests and complete surrender to full…
The Silk Road’s long period of high activity spanned the second century BC and the fifteenth century AD, but its name wasn’t coined until more than 400 years after that. Scholars have argued it practically ever since, given that the referent wasn’t just one road but a vast and ever-changing network of them, and that silk was hardly the only commodity carried by its traders. Yet the name persists, and not only due to Marco Polo-type romanticism. Silk may not have been the highest-volume item on its eponymous road — more business was surely done in everyday textiles, to say nothing of spices,…
As exceptional as Titanic was, though, it was part of a significant broader pattern: many of the 20th Century’s best picture winners were also some of the most profitable films of their respective years. “From 1927 to 1976, roughly 90% of Oscars for best picture were awarded to films that were also in the top 10 grossing pictures for their year,” wrote film historian Gene Del Vecchio in The Huffington Post in 2014. “Academy voters and the public alike enjoyed serious romance dramas like Casablanca, adventures like Around the World in 80 Days, historical dramas like Ben-Hur, and musicals like My Fair Lady. Our…
